Best Day Ever by Kaira Rouda (Review and Trailer)

I just received this deliciously creepy trailer from the publisher, and my-oh-my, does it ever give a good look into what goes on on this book!

Paul Strom has the perfect life: a glittering career as an advertising executive, a beautiful wife, two healthy boys and a big house in a wealthy suburb. And he’s the perfect husband: breadwinner, protector, provider. That’s why he’s planned a romantic weekend for his wife, Mia, at their lake house, just the two of them. And he’s promised today will be the best day ever.

But as Paul and Mia drive out of the city and toward the countryside, a spike of tension begins to wedge itself between them and doubts start to arise. How much do they trust each other? And how perfect is their marriage, or any marriage, really?

Forcing us to ask ourselves just how well we know those who are closest to us, Best Day Ever crackles with dark energy, spinning ever tighter toward its shocking conclusion. In the bestselling, page-turning vein of The Couple Next Door and The Dinner, Kaira Rouda weaves a gripping, tautly suspenseful tale of deception and betrayal dark enough to destroy a marriage…or a life.

Joe Goldberg, of the massively disturbing YOU, has some stiff competition for creepiest book protagonist of all time with the incarnation of Best Day Ever’s main character, Paul Strom.

I went into this book cold, and I believe that is the way to go here. The less you know the better. Just know that the author delivers with getting into the mind of what I believe to be one of 2017’s most sinister character’s minds in fiction.

I devoured this book in less than two days, it will definitely keep you on your toes.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4 stars! To be published September 19th, 2017.

Thanks, Holly! YOU was a wild ride for me, I’m not sure if I even liked it, but I can promise that Joe will stick with me forever as one of the creepiest characters I’ve ever read! And there’s something to be said about that:)
