A Biological Survey of Alabama

Book Description

Excerpt from A Biological Survey of Alabama: I. Physiography and Life Zones; II. The Mammals To secure definite information regarding the distribution, abun dance, and economic relations of the birds and mammals and at the same time to study the distribution of the plant life of this region, a biological survey of Alabama was carried on during a period of several years. From these investigations, and with the aid of Mohr's detailed report on the plant life,1 it has been possible to define the ranges of the mammals and birds and the boundaries of the natural life zones within the State. The report on the bird life has been prepared and tentative arrangements made for its publica tion; the reports on life zones and on the mammals are presented herewith.
