Once Upon a Time at Missouri Valley College

Book Description

From ghosts to pranks, from the Torch Run to the Hanging of the Greens, the living stories and traditions of Missouri Valley College shape the identity and everyday life of MVC students, staff, and faculty. MVC students Fanny Bertalan, Kelley Cupp, Gabriel Costa Gomes Dos Santos, Macey Embrey, Josh Manu, Rocco Scarcello, Vanessa Urbschat, and Lucas De Souza Wurr interviewed dozens of MVC faculty, staff, coaches, students, alumni and community members about the legends, traditions, beliefs, and customs of Missouri Valley College during the college's 125th year as part of English 349: Missouri Valley College Folklore, taught by Dr. Claire Schmidt. The authors transformed their collection of original ethnographic research into a study that tells the inside story of this dynamic and vivid liberal arts college community.
