Book Description

Francis Purdy (ca. 1650-between 1722-1725) was born at Fairfield, Connecticut, the son of Francis Purdy (ca. 1616-1658), the immigrant. He and his wife, Mary Lane?, had six children, ca. 1676-ca. 1690. He died at Rye, New York. Descendants listed lived in New York, Connecticut, Missouri, Kansas, and elsewhere.







Gabriel Purdy, His Ancestors and Descendents [sic]


Book Description

Gabriel Purdy (1754-1841) of the 5th generation was the son of Samuel of the 4th generation. He married five wives: (1) Charity Purdy, (2) Esther Angevine, (3) Elizabeth Richardson, (4) Esther Knight and (5) Ann Aitkins. He was the father of between fourteen and seventeen children. He joined the British at the time of the Battle of White Plains. He left for Nova Scotia, Canada in 1783. Several generations of ancestors and descendants are given.

Francis Purdy (ca. 1610-1658) immigrated about 1635 from England to Concord, Massachusetts, moving later to Fairfield, Connecticut. He married Mary Brundage before 1644. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Arkan- sas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, California and elsewhere. Some descendants immigrated to Manitoba and elsewhere in Canada. Includes ancestry and relatives in England, to St. Arnulf (580-640) in France, and elsewhere in Europe.

Book Description

Francis Purdy (ca.1616-1658) immigrated from England to Concord, Massa- chusetts, married Mary Elizabeth Brundish, and moved to Fairfield, Connecticut about 1640. Henry Purdy (1744-1826), direct descendant in the fifth generation, married Tamar Kniffen (Sniffen?) in 1773, and served with Loyalist troops during the American Revolution. They immigrated to Fort Lawrence, Nova Scotia before 1785. Descendants and relatives lived in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia and elsewhere.

Book Description

Daniel L'Estrange of Orleans, France there married Charlotte LeMeste (the surname was anglicized to Streing, Strang, Strain). As Huguenot refugees, they immigrated in 1688 to New Rochelle and later Rye, New York. He died about 1710.

Isham Purdy (1790-1881) married Roxcea Wiley in Vermont, and moved to Illinois in 1832. Descendants and relatives lived throughout the United States.
