Book Description
Excerpt from Injuries to the Eye in Their Medico-Legal Aspect In certain cases the eye may be the seat of congenital anomalies, or it may exhibit more or less serious acquired lesions that have antedated the alleged accidental cause of the condition, and this, perhaps, unknown to the patient; so that, at times, it becomes necessary to differentiate whether a loss of vision, which may be partial or complete, is due to some definite injury or whether it is dependent upon some previous pathological change. Laborers With a traumatic lesion of the eye often pur posely neglect to follow a prescribed form of treatment; they may exaggerate the consequences of an accident; and frequently they may be induced to simulate blindness, in the hope of obtaining the largest redress that is possible under such circumstances.
