Smart Organizations in the Public Sector

Book Description

How does a smart organization model enable self-governments to lead local and regional development in a sustainable and resilient manner? What are key aspects of smart organizations impacting the success of self-governments in attracting and retaining residents, entrepreneurs, and investors? Smart organizations became a relevant construct in economic and management sciences. They supply many practical applications for self-governments and public sector organizations that are looking for effective ways to leverage their resources and capabilities in the local and regional development process. This research monograph indicates how factors of smart organizations in local administration lead to sustainable and resilient development processes. In parallel, the monograph is a practical guide for local government managers looking for the best, international practices in collecting, researching, and interpreting data for making decisions that influence the competitiveness and market position of locations they govern.

Advancing Research in Information and Communication Technology

Book Description

For 60 years the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) has been advancing research in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This book looks into both past experiences and future perspectives using the core of IFIP's competence, its Technical Committees (TCs) and Working Groups (WGs). Soon after IFIP was founded, it established TCs and related WGs to foster the exchange and development of the scientific and technical aspects of information processing. IFIP TCs are as diverse as the different aspects of information processing, but they share the following aims: To establish and maintain liaison with national and international organizations with allied interests and to foster cooperative action, collaborative research, and information exchange. To identify subjects and priorities for research, to stimulate theoretical work on fundamental issues, and to foster fundamental research which will underpin future development. To provide a forum for professionals with a view to promoting the study, collection, exchange, and dissemination of ideas, information, and research findings and thereby to promote the state of the art. To seek and use the most effective ways of disseminating information about IFIP’s work including the organization of conferences, workshops and symposia and the timely production of relevant publications. To have special regard for the needs of developing countries and to seek practicable ways of working with them. To encourage communication and to promote interaction between users, practitioners, and researchers. To foster interdisciplinary work and – in particular – to collaborate with other Technical Committees and Working Groups. The 17 contributions in this book describe the scientific, technical, and further work in TCs and WGs and in many cases also assess the future consequences of the work’s results. These contributions explore the developments of IFIP and the ICT profession now and over the next 60 years. The contributions are arranged per TC and conclude with the chapter on the IFIP code of ethics and conduct.

ICT Integration in Education

Book Description

This book is based on the ICT integration in Education, and explores various concepts of Information and Communication Technology from Smart Classroom environment to Smart teaching learning Process. The book provides foundational knowledge needed to examine and understand the potential contributions of information and communication technology in education, including a conceptual framework for understanding the necessary components of ICT based education. This e-book is divided into three main sections. The first section is concerned with the integration of ICT to contribute substantial improvements in the educational system. This section mainly focused on the important potential tools to enable educational reform processes improving both access and quality of education. The increased diffusion of ICTs will offer potentially relevant ‘solutions’ to challenges not only at the core of the teaching and learning process itself, but also its application can accelerates and improves education system on a number of fronts i.e. use of ICT for various educational objectives, bridging the educational inequalities, with the potential of overcoming obstacles like geographical barriers, teaching learning difficulties, research and bring about transformational changes in education and in response to the information needs of the modern information times. The second section deals with concept of emergence of changing face of classroom and about the digital move that can turn a new face in the education system. Focus in mainly on smart learning environment which provides variety of smart solutions in educational challenges to enhance the quality of education and to improve the performances of both teachers and students. This section provides the acquaintance with how smart solutions transformed the conventional classrooms to an advanced student-centric online learning environment and how digital integration in education changing the approach and methodology that teachers use to teach and students learn in an innovative manner using technology.
