Journal of the Proceedings of the Seventh Annual Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church, in the Diocese of Alabama

Book Description

Excerpt from Journal of the Proceedings of the Seventh Annual Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church, in the Diocese of Alabama: Held in the City of Montgomery, on Saturday, May 5th, A. D. 1838 I am gratified to learn from our worthy and energetic Secretary, Mr. H. A. Tayloe, that he has met witha good measure of success in soliciting subscriptions for the permanent Episcopal Fund, having been en in that duty during the past year, in compliance with a resolution 0 0 last Convention. By his zeal and industry, that Fund has been raised to about Ten Thousand Dollars, and as many members and friends of the Church have not yet been applied to, Iwould res ctfully recommend that his agen cy be. Continued. Lam now convinced t at if proper measures be taken, the fund can be so far increased as in a few years to relieve the Parishes of all assessments for the support of the Bishop. I should do injustice to my feel ings if I did not here express my gratitude for the active zeal of Mr. Tayloe, and for the liberality of those who have contributed to the fund.
