It is a great favor of Allah that many Muslims are nowadays more inclined to read and understand the Holy Qur'an. Alhamdulillah, the number of such people is increasing. In order to encourage as well as help such readers of the Holy Qur'an, I compiled the difficult words of the Qur'an in the form of a book in Urdu, titled Aasaan Lughatul Qur'an (Easy Dictionary of Qur'an) and published it as a dictionary way back in 1952. In this dictionary, words were placed in order of their occurence in the Surahs of the Qur'an, avoiding those words which were repeated. For example, the words Alif-Laam-Meem of Surah al-Baqarah come first and those of Surah aale-Imran come next, and so on.

Al-Qur'an, the Guidance for mankind, is a unique translation of the Holy Qur'an in contemporary American English. Its features include - (1) Field Testing the Communication of Divine Message: The unique feature of this translation is its field testing for over 3 1/2 years to improve the communication and understanding of the Divine Message. Translation passages were given to the New Muslim and Non-Muslim high school and college students for reading under the supervision of various Ulema (scholars). After reading, the person was asked to explain as to what he/she understood from the passage. If his/her understanding was the same as is in the Arabic Text of the Holy Qur'an then we concluded that we have been successful in conveying the Divine Message properly. If his/her understanding was different than what the Qur'anic verses were stating, we kept on rewording the translation until those verses were understood properly. It was tremendous patience on part of the participants. May Allah reward them all. (4) Outline of Pertinent Information: Before the start of each Srah, information relating to its Period of Revelation, Major Issues, Divine Laws and Guidance has been presented as an outline. (5) Reviews, Input and Approvals: This project was started in 1991 and initial draft completed in 1994. Then the Translation was sent to different Ulema (Scholars) in Town and throughout United States for their review and input. The Holy Qur'an (also known as The Koran) is the sacred book of Islam. For Muslims, it is the word of the one God. The Qur'an was revealed to the last prophet and messenger Muḥammad (محمد) from the year 610 until his death in 632 by the angel Gabriel (جبريل). According to the Qur'an, God exists and is unique, and He is the author of all the sacred books of the three monotheistic religions that are Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. He thus revealed the Gospel to the penultimate prophet Jesus and the Torah to the prophet Moses. We read thus in verse 3 of sura 3: "It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind". However, Islam considers that, with the exception of the Quran, all the holy Books have been falsified by man. Verse 75 of Sura 2 goes in this direction: "Well, do you hope [Muslims] that such people [the Jews] will share your faith with you? while a group of them; after having heard and understood the word of Allah, knowingly falsified it." As the influence of Islam grows and spreads to the world, translating the Qur'an is of fundamental importance in order to introduce and explain Islam to anyone interested. This present work is a translation into English of the meaning of the verses of the Quran made by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. This translation is considered to be one of the most faithful rendering available in English.
