Life ,s wisdom

Book Description

With a writing career spanning some seventy years, Naguib Mahfouz is one of the most recognized writers in the world. His study of philosophy at what is now Cairo University greatly influenced his works, as did his wide readings and his work in the government and in the Cinema Organization. Life's Wisdom is a unique collection of quotations selected from the great author's works, offering philosophical insights on themes such as childhood, youth, love, marriage, war, freedom, death, the supernatural, the afterlife, the soul, immortality, and many other subjects that take us through life's journey. Naguib Mahfouz's works abound with words of wisdom. As Nadine Gordimer states in her foreword to his Echoes of an Autobiography: "The essence of a writer's being is in the work, not the personality, though the world values things otherwise, and would rather see what the writer looks like on television than read where he or she really is to be found: in the writings." In keeping with Gordimer's comment, Mahfouz's true nature can be found in his writing. The quotations included here offer a broad, yet profound, insight into the writer's philosophy gained through a life's journey of experience and writing.

Life's Wisdom

Book Description

I have always been intrigued by the power of words. In the course of my engineering and manufacturing career I was fortunate to have a mentor who taught me about the use of vocabulary and how the precise application of just the right word made a difference when expressing a particular thought. I especially appreciated it when a small selection of words came together to make a terse but potent thought. I often applied what I learned resulting in the creation of many what I felt were economic and effective sayings. I also appreciated and took note of sayings by others. Soon I began to amass a collection of these thoughts and sayings. While many are of my own creation, an equal number are the product of other people's wisdom. Those that I liked or identified with were either adopted or adapted. These little gems of wisdom can take many forms depending on the situation. They can be simply an observation about life, a bit of advice, a snappy comeback, a witty remark, a political comment or even an insult. What better way to share these little bits of wisdom than to put them down in a book. The thoughts that are not my own have not been attributed to any other author as they often appear credited to different sources and most have no source at all as they have simply become a part of our collective culture. The reader will note that often there are many variations on the same or similar themes. Each time I chose to apply one of these in a life situation, it often came out a little different depending on the particular application or whatever mood I was in. I have chosen to include nearly all variations. Since I wanted this book to be an interesting read and not simply a boring reference book, I have not categorized or grouped them by topic but listed them in a random fashion so that each one has the potential to be a surprise. Enjoy this collection of "Life's Wisdom".Jay [email protected]

Book Description

Sorin Cerin (born November 25, 1963, Baia Mare, Romania) is a Romanian existentialist philosopher, logician, poet and essayist. If Osho is a mystic in his aphorisms, Sorin Cerin is an existentialist philosopher and logician, author of a new philosophical system called Coaxialism, but also author of philosophical poems, being an important existentialist poet of the 21st century whose existentialist philosophical poems are quoted by critics specialized alongside other philosophers, poets and existentialist authors such as Nietzsche, Heidegger, Sartre or Kierkegaard. Sorin Cerin is especially sought after by the general public, among existentialist poets and philosophers, both for his existentialist philosophical poems that focus mainly on Love, Existence, Illusion, the Absurd or Death, and for existentialist philosophical aphorisms, structured in several volumes, and previously published in various publishing houses, to be later reunited under the aegis of a single monumental volume, entitled Collection of Wisdom. This title first appeared in 2009, which together with the future editions of Sorin Cerin's Collections of Wisdom from the following years, brought him fame and international recognition, for which, Sorin Cerin, is considered to be one of the most representative existentialist philosophers, existentialist poets, but, also authors of wisdom, authors of philosophical aphorisms or thinkers of the sapiential genre, worldwide, and the philosophical aphorisms from this work, are selected in various publications or prestigious anthologies of the world.

Book Description

What is death in the illusion of life? Is another world after death? Each quote is a response to the question:"The only truth that life can say to the ones that pass through it is: death. To keep your back turned death and look only life in the face is like turning your back to the truth but also to your true Destiny that can only fulfill through death." Famous quotes about death.
