In this intriguing, espionage thriller, a California detective works to solve the murder of a suspected war criminal who may also be connected to an art heist. During the encounter, Lang is brutally murdered, along with another police officer. During his recuperation, Gilmore discovers that the double homicide is linked to Lang's role in a clandestine art heist committed in war-torn Europe more than forty years earlier. Gilmore soon finds himself tracking down the killers, as well as the art collection. The intelligence community is watching every move he makes, as are members of the Tesia Foundation, an organization dedicated to the apprehension of war criminals. As events unfold, Gilmore's mysterious experiences in the Vietnam War return to haunt him, complicating his revenge-driven investigation even further. Treating Troubled Children and Their Families

Book Description

Integrating systemic, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral perspectives, this acclaimed book presents an innovative framework for therapeutic work. Ellen Wachtel shows how parents and children all too often get entangled in patterns that cause grief to both generations, and demonstrates how to help bring about change with a combination of family-focused and child-focused interventions. Vivid case examples illustrate creative ways to engage young children in family sessions and conduct complementary sessions with children and parents alone, using a variety of strengths-based, developmentally informed strategies. The paperback edition features a new preface in which the author reflects on the continuing evolution of her approach.

Mickey's Story

Book Description

This book is for the benefit of my children and grand children, and every other person that knows me, including members of the NYPD that worked along with me many years. This is so they understand the role of the US in Puerto Rico ́s political history. The death of leader Pedro Albizu Campos in the year 1965 triggered a new combination of struggles, open, open illegal and clandestine from the pro independence groups, that couldn’t wait any longer.. Their new struggle coincided with my arrival in the USA in 1967, when they were hitting USA with bombs, incendiary and explosive. I was appointed undercover May 16, 1969 to infiltrate and inform the activities of the groups involved in the underground struggle to free Puerto Rico. In the book I relate the problems and discrimination that I faced performing the job and after.

Bombshells

Book Description

Jean Harlow, the Godmother of Blondes, lit the torch for the blonde bombshell, creating an image and persona that would be passed on for generations to come. Jean's life was cut tragically short at the age of 26, but the flame reignited in the 1950s with the most notorious blondes of all time: Ruth Ellis, Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield and Diana Dors. Each left a legacy that has ensured the fire will never be completely extinguished, affecting not only individual lives but society across a world stage. From Marilyn's stardom and Diana's unwavering integrity, to Ruth's tragic status as the last woman hanged in Britain, all of these women experienced success and tragedy, love and heartbreak, and attention both positive and negative. Bombshells examines these five exceptional women in the context of the 1950s, the expectations and constrictions society had at the time and how they pushed through barriers and paved the way for the real sexual revolution.
