Rare and Endangered Species

Book Description

"The Smithsonian Institution has compiled a list of threatened and endangered plant species. Until it is approved by the Secretary of Agriculture, it is unofficial. R.L.W.W. would like you to be aware of the plants that may be on our Area. None have common names. Of the 30 species listed for Alaska, only 2 can be considered positive for Southeastern and likely to be found on the Stikine Area. Three more are possibles. Four other plants were not described in either Hulten's Flora of Alaska, the generally accepted authority, or Anderson's Flora of Alaska. Until we get an official description we are listing them in our guide booklet and illustrating them with a variety found in southeast Alaska. From descriptions of similar species it is fair to assume that they will not be found on a commercial timber site." -- from leaf 1.
