Comprehensive state-wide plan for historic preservation of cultural resources includes the following sub-units: land usage; transportation and communication; commerce and industry; government and politics; the people; social organizations and movements; and literature, arts and journalism. Each unit contains a summary history/overview, bibliography, operating plan listing specific sites, definition of property types and historic landscape features, significant individuals associated with the topic, goals and priorities, and constituency groups and resource managers.

"Nevada's history is unique. The physical places created over that history are among the state's greatest cultural and economic assets and are worth preserving. Referred to as 'historic' or 'cultural resources' they include buildings, structures, objects, sites, and districts. The Nevada State Historic Preservation Office (NSHPO) reached out to its preservation partners and the broader public to identify challenges and develop collaborative goals for preserving these resources while creating sustainable and vibrant communities.
