Chemistry and Technology of Agrochemical Formulations

Book Description

Agrochemical products and adjuvants are of vital importance in agriculture, to protect food and fibre crops from weeds, insect pests and diseases, in order to feed and clothe the growing world population. In recent years there have been increasing pressures to produce agrochemical formulations which have a lower environmental impact and are safer in use. Enormous changes have taken place in the chemistry and technology of agrochemicals over the last twenty years or so and this book provides a timely review of the most important area of technology in the development of new products. This book covers issues around international product quality and safety standards and describes the current and likely future trends which will carry the industry forward into the next millennium. It brings together well known international experts with many years of practical experience from agrochemical companies, consultancies, academic institutions and regulatory bodies. Chemists and technologists involved in developing new or improved agrochemical formulations will find this book an essential reference in the course of their work. The book will also be of interest to those working in research and development departments of raw material suppliers, as a concise review of this important field.

Pesticide Formulations and Delivery Systems

Book Description

Held in October of 2001 in Dallas, Texas, the symposium set out to integrate the efforts of formulation chemists, regulators, and those in industry related to sprayer and nozzle manufacture on topics related to the delivery of crop protection agents (pesticides). Sixteen contributions are presented. After the invited paper on continuity and change in U.S. federal pesticide policy, the papers are organized into two sections, first treating formulation ingredients and design, and then discussing delivery strategies. The first deals with such topics as novel polymeric dispersants, clays as microbial carriers, and Alkyl Citrate Ester surfactants. The second explores such issues as bees as delivery agents, roles of surfactants in foliar application of systemic compounds, and related topics. Spray Oils Beyond 2000

Book Description

Silicone Surfactants

Book Description

The book offers a good summary of the field for all scientists who are interested in synthesis, properties, and the application of silicone surfactants." ---Molecular Chemistry and Physics. "Serves as a comprehensive introduction to the preparation, uses, and physical chemistry of silicone surfactants--focusing on silicone polyoxyalkylene copolymers that are surface active in both aqueous and nonaqueous systems. Covers applications in the manufacture of polyurethane foam, coatings, wetting agents, fabric finishes, and polymer surface modifiers."

Pesticide Formulations and Application Systems

Book Description

"This book represents the work that was presented at the 23rd Symposium on Pesticide Formulations and Application Systems, Oct. 15 & 16, 2002 in Norfolk, VA. The ASTM E35.22 Subcommittee sponsors this symposium annually in an attempt to deliver pertinent and updated information to agrochemical formulators. The work of several authors from private industry, government and academia is well represented here in an overview of recent pesticide technology."

Alkyl Polyglycosides

Book Description

The first comprehensive survey on the uses of alkyl polyglycosides as renewable ressources for the chemical industry. Experts from industry show in detail how alkyl polyglycosides can help chemists to improve their products. Since quite a few years, renewable Ressources are of increasing interest for the chemical industry. Alkyl polyglycosides are among the frequently used substances produces from renewable ressorces. Their science as well as technological applications are described in this book competently and with a focus on industrial use.
