Proceedings of the 4th International Seminar on Science and Technology (ISST 2022)

Book Description

This is an open access book. ISST is an annual seminar organized regularly by Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tadulako University since 2018 in collaboration with University of Newcastle (Australia), University of Miyazaki (UoM), Physics Society of Indonesia, Indonesian Chemical Society (HKI) and Indonesian Mathematical Society (IndoMS). International seminar on science and technology aims to provide a high-level international forum for leading academicians, researchers, scientists, students, scholars, and practitioners to share the state of the art of knowledges, experiences, researches and applications on the aspect of advancement in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry field. It is also serves to foster communication among academicians, researchers, scientists, students, scholars, and practitioners working in a wide variety of scientific areas with a common interest in improving science and technology in the field of mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Furthermore, this seminar can provide a premier interdisciplinary platform for academicians, researchers, scientists, students, scholars, and practitioners to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. This seminar has been virtually held since 2020 due to covid-19 pandemic and is continuing to hold virtually following the advice and guidelines from government. However, due to the antusiasm of participants to attend the seminar “face to face”, hence this seminar will be held using hybrid style seminar by following healthcare guideline for covid-19.

ICAE 2022

Book Description

This is proceeding for the 5th International Conference on Applied Engineering (ICAE 2022), held online in Batam, Indonesia on 5 October 2022. ICAE is an annual conference organized by Politeknik Negeri Batam. This year, ICAE was structured in 3 tracks namely Electronics, Informatics and Mechanicals. ICAE received 64 papers in various topics including Control Systems and Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics and Control Systems, Computational Mechanics and Microelectronic Circuits and Systems, Micro-Electro-Mechanical System, RFID and Electronics Design, Electronics materials, Sensor Networks, Fuzzy Systems, AI and Expert Systems, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Architecture and Topology, Geo-Information, GIS and Remote Sensing, Multimedia Content, IoT, Semiconductor technology, IoT Devices and other related fields. All submission were peer-reviewed with at least 3 reviewers provided for each paper. A total of 37 selected, which is around 58% acceptance rate. We express gratitude to all who contributed to the success of ICAE 2022. We acknowledge the invaluable assistance of the track chairs and the track program committee members. It required the significant efforts of many people to make this virtual conference possible, especially in this time of COVID-19 pandemic. We thank the Organizing Committee members along with the numerous reviewers for their assistance with the reviews of the submitted manuscripts. These reviewers serve to bring a broad set of perspectives to the research arena. We especially thank the authors who have provided the submitted manuscripts. The quality of these papers is a tribute to the authors and also to the reviewers who have guided any necessary improvement. Last but not least, we are greatly indebted to the three keynote speakers: Prof. Yusep Rosmansyah, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D from Information Technology Research Division (KKTI), School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia; Dr Hj Mohammad Nabil Almunawar Associate Professor, School of Business and Economics, Universiti Brunei Darussalam; Ashwani Singh, PhD, Global R&D Director Telemecanique Sensors, France; for delivering the keynote speeches in this conference. We hope this ICAE proceeding will have impact to the research community in the longer term.

Perfect Secrecy in IoT

Book Description

Perfectly-secure cryptography is a branch of information-theoretic cryptography. A perfectly-secure cryptosystem guarantees that the malicious third party cannot guess anything regarding the plain text or the key, even in the case of full access to the cipher text. Despite this advantage, there are only a few real-world implementations of perfect secrecy due to some well-known limitations. Any simple, straightforward modeling can pave the way for further advancements in the implementation, especially in environments with time and resource constraints such as IoT. This book takes one step towards this goal via presenting a hybrid combinatorial-Boolean model for perfectly-secure cryptography in IoT. In this book, we first present an introduction to information-theoretic cryptography as well as perfect secrecy and its real-world implementations. Then we take a systematic approach to highlight information-theoretic cryptography as a convergence point for existing trends in research on cryptography in IoT. Then we investigate combinatorial and Boolean cryptography and show how they are seen almost everywhere in the ecosystem and the life cycle of information-theoretic IoT cryptography. We finally model perfect secrecy in IoT using Boolean functions, and map the Boolean functions to simple, well-studied combinatorial designs like Latin squares. This book is organized in two parts. The first part studie s information-theoretic cryptography and the promise it holds for cryptography in IoT. The second part separately discusses combinatorial and Boolean cryptography, and then presents the hybrid combinatorial-Boolean model for perfect secrecy in IoT.

Proceedings of 2022 4th International Conference on Environment Sciences and Renewable Energy

Book Description

This book consists of selected papers from the 2022 4th International Conference on Environment Sciences and Renewable Energy, which was held as a fully virtual conference during May 27-29, 2022. The book overviews the latest progress in environmental and energy technologies with a specific focus on wind turbines and hydrogen production. In the field of environmental science, wastewater treatment, air pollution abatement, solid waste treatment, and general policy recommendations are discussed. Technology advances, especially in wastewater nutrients and micropollutant removal, are covered. In policy measures, cost allocations, optimum recycling strategies, and environmental footprint allocations of different environmental technologies are included. In the field of renewable energy, several hot topics, including solar cells, offshore floating wind turbines, and renewable energy resource potentials in different regions are considered.
