Abstract: Proceedings of 5 conferences of nutrition specialists discussing research needs of nutrition education are presented. The nature of the discussion and the group consensus are reflected in the proceedings; certain individual comments and illustrative models are included. An executive summary and overview are provided. Panel topics include: eating patterns; nutrition communication; formal nutrition education; community nutrition education; and evaluation research in nutrition education. An overview, definition and delimitation of the topic, major research issues, and directions for action are described for each topic. Pre-conference readings, selected bibliography, and participant profiles are listed.
