Strong, in July, 1895, as an Advisory Committee, to continue the study of the subject Of Public Baths and Public Comfort Stations, upon which it had already reported to the Committee Of Seventy as its sub-committee on this special subject. This pre liminary report had been accepted and approved by that Committee, and was published by'it in pamphlet form. In pursuance Of this study, as requested by the Mayor, the Committee became SO deeply impressed with the imperative necessity Of an adequate municipal provision Of Baths and Public Comfort Stations for New York City, that it collected the latest and best information in relation to these matters, so that New York might have the latest system of Public Baths and Public Comfort Stations.
