Rules and of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul

Book Description

Excerpt from Rules and of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul: And Indulgences Granted by the Sovereign Pontiffs, Both to the Members and to the Benefactors of the Society It becometh the Roman Pontiff to enrich, in a special manner, with the heavenly treasures of the Church, those pious Societies that labor with all care and zeal in the performance of works of Christian charity. Wherefore, having been earnestly solicited by the President and Council General of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, which was originally established in Paris, to grant to that Society some indulgences, as well plenary as partial. We have thought fit that their pious supplication should be freely acceded to. Wherefore, We mercifully grant, in the Lord, a plenary indulgence to all and every the members, whether attached to the now instituted Council General at Paris, of the said Society, or to particular Councils of Paris and other cities, who, being truly penitent, shall have confessed their sins and received the Holy Communion, provided that they shall have been present at all, or at three out of the four meetings of the Council which are holden in the month.
