Sex, Porn and Masturbation Addiction Mastery

Book Description

You are at the right place to find solutions to your sexual addiction Every addict comes to a point in his or her life when the consequences are so severe, or the pain is so excruciating that the addict admits his or her sexual behavior has taken control of his or her life. Some are newsworthy, such as when a congressman, minister, or professional figure is chastised for unacceptable sexual behavior. Millions of people read the steamy news accounts and, despite their lust, pass harsh judgment on people who are sexual with children, visit prostitutes, commit homosexual acts in public restrooms, or even have affairs. A smaller but far larger audience read each line, fearful that the same public exposure would happen to them and judging themselves with the same unforgiving standards as the public. In this book, you will learn: The basics of sexual addiction Common signs and symptoms of sexual addiction The cycle of sexual addiction Types and characteristics of sexual addiction The causes and problems of sexual addiction Levels of sexual addiction How a sexual addict thinks and behaves Cybersex and porn addiction How porn rewires your brain How to recover from sexual addiction, guilt and shame Recovery resources to help you through your sexual addiction recovery journey So if you are reading this book, know that you're at the right place to find solutions to your sexual addiction. The primary aim of this book is to assist people who struggle with compulsive and addictive sexual behaviors by assisting them in recognizing their problem as a chronic emotional condition and understanding that, like alcoholism, compulsive gambling, eating disorders, and opioid abuse, the problem can be placed into remission with proper treatment and guidance.

The Twelve Steps and the Sacraments

Book Description

Winner of a 2018 Catholic Press Association Award: Sacraments. (Second Place). In the first book to directly integrate the Twelve Steps with the practice of Catholicism, Scott Weeman, founder and director of Catholic in Recovery, pairs his personal story with compassionate straight talk to show Catholics how to bridge the commonly felt gap between the Higher Power of twelve-step programs and the merciful God that he rediscovered in the heart of the sacraments. Weeman entered sobriety from alcohol and drugs on October 10, 2011, and he's made it his full-time ministry to help others who struggle with various types of addiction to find spiritual wholeness through Catholic in Recovery, an organization he founded and directs. In The Twelve Steps and the Sacraments, Weeman candidly tackles the struggle he and other addicts have with getting to know intimately the unnamed Higher Power of recovery. He shares stories of his compulsion to find a personal relationship with God and how his tentative steps back to the Catholic Church opened new doors of healing and brought him surprising joy as he came to know Christ in the sacraments. Catholics in recovery and those moving toward it, as well as the people who love them will recognize Weeman's story and his spiritual struggle to personally encounter God. He tells us how: Baptism helps you admit powerlessness over an unmanageable problem, face your desperate need for God, and choose to believe in and submit to God’s mercy. Reconciliation affirms and strengthens the hard work of examining your life, admitting wrongs, and making amends. The Eucharist provides ongoing sustenance and draws you to the healing power of Christ. The graces of Confirmation strengthen each person to keep moving forward and to share the good news of recovery and new life in Christ. Weeman's words are boldly challenging and brimming with compassion and through them you will discover inspiration, hope, sage advice, and refreshingly practical help.

Getting Off

Book Description

“Erica Garza has written a riveting, can’t-look-away memoir of a life lived hardcore…In an era when predatory male sexual behavior has finally become a topic of urgent national discourse…Getting Off makes for a wild, timely read” (Elle). A fixation on porn and orgasm, strings of failed relationships and serial hook-ups with strangers, inevitable blackouts to blunt the shame—these are not things we often hear women share publicly, and not with the candor, eloquence, and introspection Erica Garza brings to Getting Off. What sets this courageous and riveting account apart from your typical misery memoir is the absence of any precipitating trauma beyond the garden variety of hurt we’ve all had to endure in simply becoming a person—reckoning with family, learning to be social, integrating what it means to be sexual. Whatever tenor of violence or abuse Erica’s life took on through her behavior was of her own making, fueled by fear, guilt, self-loathing, self-pity, loneliness, and the hopelessness those feelings brought on as she runs from one side of the world to the other in an effort to break her habits—from East Los Angeles to Hawaii and Southeast Asia, through the brothels of Bangkok and the yoga studios of Bali to disappointing stabs at therapy and twelve-steps back home. In these remarkable pages, Garza draws an evocative, studied portrait of the anxiety that fuels her obsessions, as well as the exhilaration and hope she begins to feel when she suspects she might be free of them. Getting Off offers a brave and necessary voice to our evolving conversations about addiction and the impact that internet culture has had on us all—“a profoundly genuine, gripping story that any reader can appreciate” (Vice). “In reading Garza’s insight into her own experiences, we better understand ourselves” (The New York Times Book Review).

Power Over Pornography

Book Description

Jason, like many people, is an addict. His addiction doesn't center on any drug or alcohol. He's a pornography and masturbation addict, and the insidious nature of his addiction erodes his self-worth, his relationships, and his career. Jason meets David at a twelve-step meeting, where David offers him a new approach to treating pornography addiction. Through a series of meetings, David guides Jason as he successfully overcomes his addiction, a process supported by glimpses into Jason's family and how his relationships improve as pornography loses its hold on his life. Jason's story is fictional. The treatment plan he follows is very real. Designed by author and pornography addiction treatment expert Brian Brandenburg, the strategies found in Power over Pornography are praised by those who, having taken part in Brandenburg's program, now pursue lives free of pornographic viewing. Brandenburg's innovative treatment plan comes at a crucial moment in the fight against pornography and masturbation addiction. A generation of Internet-savvy children has grown up with access to pornography, quite literally, at their keyboard-typing fingertips. The images and videos they view online are far more graphic than their parents can imagine. Now the children of this generation have become young adults, with many addicted to the instant gratification of pornography. Like Jason, most pornography and masturbation addicts are male, but women are also afflicted. Maintaining normal, healthy relationships becomes almost impossible while in the grip of pornography. Anxiety and guilt over your actions worsen into clinical depression and self-loathing. Work productivity suffers, and an addict with on-the-job access to the Internet is always a few mouse clicks away from job termination and scandal. Jason and others in his situation are discovering traditional twelve-step programs don't address key aspects of pornography and masturbation addiction. Brandenburg's radical treatment takes a new, often counterintuitive approach to overcoming pornography addiction. His advice sometimes contradicts traditional strategies, but his system works. A comprehensive, easy-to-understand approach to pornography addiction treatment, Power over Pornography appeals to all readers. You can overcome your addiction. Let Brian Brandenburg and Jason be your guides.

The Myth of Sex Addiction

Book Description

The media today is filled with powerful men in trouble for their sexual behaviors, and invariably, they are diagnosed as sexual addicts. Since Adam first hid his nakedness from God and pointed the finger at Eve, men have struggled to take responsibility for their sexuality. Over the past three decades, these behaviors have come to reflect not a moral failing, but instead, evidence of an ill-defined disease, that of "sexual addiction." The concept of sexual addiction is a controversial one because it is based on questionable research and subjective moral judgments. Labeling these behaviors as sex addiction asserts a false, dangerous myth that undermines personal responsibility. Not only does this epidemic of sex addiction excuses mislabel male sexuality as dangerous and unhealthy, but it destroys our ability to hold people accountable for their behaviors. By labeling males as weak and powerless before the onslaught and churning tide of lust, we take away those things that men should live up to: personal responsibility; integrity; self-control; independence; accountability; self-motivation; honor; respect for self and others. In The Myth of Sex Addiction, Ley presents the history and questionable science underlying this alleged disorder, exposing the moral and cultural judgments that are embedded in the concept, as well as the significant economic factors that drive the label of sex addiction in clinical practice and the popular media. Ley outlines how this label represents a social attack on many forms of sexuality--male sexuality in particular--as well as presenting the difficulty this label creates in holding people responsible for their sexual behaviors. Going against current assumptions and trends, Ley debunks the idea that sex addiction is real, or at least that it is as widespread as it appears to be. Instead, he suggests that the high-sex behaviors of some men is something that has been tacitly condoned for countless years and is only now labeled as a disorder as men are being held accountable to the same rules that have been applied to women. He suggests we should expect men to take responsibility for sexual choices, rather than supporting an approach that labels male sexual desire as a "demonic force" that must be resisted, feared, treated, and exorcised.

30 Roads Away from PORN

Book Description

The Three R's System of Quitting Porn - The Relapse, the Reboot and the Retreat. The life of a porn addict can be thought of as a three-part loop which he goes through repeatedly. This loop consists of three phases - the Relapse, the Reboot, and the Retreat. The Relapse or phase one is when he goes back to his old ways of watching porn from a successful streak, the Reboot or phase two is when he is away from porn on a successful streak for any amount of time, and the Retreat or phase three is when the porn cravings hit him hard and he slowly moves back towards phase one or the Relapse. The porn addict behaves differently in each one of these phases. During phase one when he relapses, he is full of guilt and shame. During this phase, he has every reason to quit porn and every reason why porn is bad for him. He is full of motivation to quit porn and to get his life back on track. He will delete his porn collection, gets porn filters for his phone and PC, decides to exercise, meditate and do a host of other things which he thinks might help him in quitting porn. During phase two or the Reboot, when he is on a successful streak, he is full of energy and motivation to keep going on and the drive to succeed in quitting porn and doing the things which are important in life. During this phase, he is the most productive, confident, charismatic, enthusiastic and optimistic version of himself. And then, comes the dreaded phase three or the Retreat, when he is triggered by something sexual, a sexual thought, imagery, ad, or a sex scene in a movie and the porn cravings hit him hard. During this time, he starts losing control, doing everything possible not to watch porn and feeling helpless and irresistibly attracted to porn. And he relapses and binges on porn just to begin his Reboot phase again. The way an addict deals with his addiction and his life in each phase is completely different. The resolution and the motivation he has to quit porn in phase one is completely faded away in phase three. And the confidence, motivation towards life goals, the energy and vitality he has in phase two is completely gone in phase one. So, he would need different approaches in each phase to deal with and to master his addiction and this is where this book comes into the picture. This book includes 45 techniques to deal with porn and masturbation addiction and it is divided into three parts corresponding to the three phases discussed above. Since the best time when an addict invests the time, money and energy into quitting his porn addiction is after phase one, that is after his relapse. So, the first part of this book deals with the techniques to build a solid base before he builds his Porn free lifestyle. The second part of the book deals with the techniques to maintain a successful streak; techniques which will help him to keep going on. And the third part of the book will give him techniques for the times when the going gets tough. It deals with Triggers and Cravings because they are the sole reason for every relapse. This part will give him the techniques to deal with the cravings when they are strong and when they are very strong. I would like to wish good luck to you, the reader, as you move onto the next stage in your life. Without a doubt, you will continue to have success in all areas. The Author
