The Effects of Sideslip, Aspect Ratio, and Mach Number on the Lift and Pitching Moment of Triangular, Trapezoidal, and Related Plan Forms in Supersonic Flow

Book Description

The variations of lift and pitching moment with sideslip in supersonic flow have been calculated for a representative gorup of plan forms. The variations of lift and pitching moment with aspect ratio and Mach number at zero sideslip were also investigated. The analysis was based on linearized potential theory and was applied to triangular, trapezoidal, rectangular, and swept-back plan forms without dihedral.

The Rolling Moment Due to Sideslip of Swept Wings at Subsonic and Transonic Speeds

Book Description

A summary and analysis has been made of results obtained in a systematic research program concerned with the effects of wing sweep, aspect ratio, taper ratio, and dihedral on the rolling moment due to sideslip characteristics of wing-fuselage configurations up to Mach numbers of about 0.95. Other test results are presented to show trends of rolling moment due to sideslip with Mach number for a few wings in the transonic and supersonic speed range.
