Book Description
Excerpt from Tales Told in Palestine IN the years 1901 and 1902 it was my privilege to spend several months in Palestine. While there I met a number of persons more or less familiar with the folk-lore of the country and heard from them scores of interesting stories. One gentleman, the Rev. J. E. Hanauer, at my request furnished me with the materials from which this volume has been compiled. The stories will doubtless speak for themselves, but it may conduce to a readier appreciation of their value if I introduce them by noting a few points that have occurred to me while I have been prepar ing them for publication.
