Book Description
Excerpt from The Diary of William Bentley, D. D., Pastor of the East Church, Salem, Massachusetts, Vol. 3: January, 1803 December, 1810 January 1, 1803. The year entered agreably. NO Insol vencies to involve the affairs of Individuals. Upon the whole, good causes for public private congratulations. I dined with a few friends, in honour of the day. The Gazette Register gave their annual compliments in the ditties as usual, but each avoiding per sonalities, had little to say.
