Excerpt from The Legal News, 1895, Vol. 18 If, for any reason such as sickness, an unusual number of long cases, or any other cause, the division of any judge should become congested, an outside judge could be asked to take his place, and this outside judge could then have the assistance and advice of the judge of the division in relation to former proceed ings in the case, which had come before him, and in this way often save time and trouble. Then, added to this, have the stenographers officials of the court, so that they should always -be in attendance with the judges, if required, to read over their notes, or extend such depositions as the judge might wish to critically consider, but not to extend their notes fully, except at the request of the judge, or of the parties in the case, for which services they should receive extra remuneration.
