Twenty-Sixth Annual Report, Woman's Missionary Council of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South

Book Description

Excerpt from Twenty-Sixth Annual Report, Woman's Missionary Council of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South: Commemorating the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Home Mission Movement Homeless girls. While doing this work in the cities and elsewhere the missionaries found little girls who had no homes and yet were too old to be received in.an orphan asylum. For such as these the Society provided a beautiful place in Thomasville, Ga., called Vashti Home, where they are cared for, clothed, and taught both in school books and different kinds of work by which they can support them selves when they are grown. There are older girls than these who have been tempted and fallen into sin, for which they are very sorry and want help to live better lives. For these older girls the Society built another house, in Dallas, Tex., called the Ann Browder Mission Home and School (now named Virginia Johnson Home and School). Many of them had no mother to teach them how to be good. Many of these unfortunate ones have been converted and have lived right ever since.
