From the Providence newspapers, United States Chronicle and Providence semi-weekly Journal we print in this volume the Marriages A to Z, having printed the Deaths, the former in Vol. XV, and the latter in Vols. XII and XIII, The American Journal, Impartial Observer, and Providence Journal. The Deaths and Marriages are complete in this volume. The General Assembly have again in their wisdom and judg ment extended to this volume their usual courtesy. The favors heretofore extended us by the officers in charge of the newspapers have again been renewed to us. Our thanks are due to all these officers and to our friends for all the favors we have received and trust our conduct Will be such as to merit their continuance in the future. Please bear in mind that the dates herein given if preceded by the name Of the Newspaper means that the Marriage or Death is announced in that issue, otherwise the real date of the event is given. It is gratifying in one sense Of the term if not in another to be able to announce that our six earlier volumes containing the Vital Records of the Towns and Cities of the State have become so scarce as to be held at a premium hereafter.
