This book is about my grandmother who is very important to me. She was the youngest daughter of a Polish farmer and very small physically. However, she was always in command when she was in the room. She worked hard each day but still had time to be happy with her garden and her family. In writing my grandmother's story I wanted to go beyond the names, dates, and pictures in the albums. She was more than that. It is very important to ask why she did what she did. The story asks questions about Anna's fears in making these changes and hopefully will give the reader insights that will help them understand their immigrant ancestors more.
