A Digest of Equity (Classic Reprint)

Book Description

Excerpt from A Digest of Equity Wing to the absence of Mr. Kenrick in India, this Edition has had to be prepared without the benefit of his assistance. The substantial alterations are that Book I., dealing with the Jurisdiction of Chancery, has been recast and enlarged, and that to Book II. Three new Articles have been added on Married Women's and Infants' Property. As regards the part from Mr. Kenrick's pen (sections I. To V. Of Book Mr. Strahan, save for deleting two Articles which the enlargement of Book I.' rendered superfluous and some of the authorities cited which seemed to him too numerous for a student's book, has done no more than bring it up to date. Equity and Its Remedies (Classic Reprint)

Book Description

Excerpt from Equity and Its Remedies This book is the outcome of lectures delivered by the author at the Evening Law School of the Boston Y. M. C. A. And at the Law School of Boston Univer sity, on the equitable remedies. The justification for putting the material in this form is found in the expressions of gratitude from former students who have been good enough to say that they have found in these lectures citations and statements of principles inaccessible in any text-book. The frequency with which the author has turned to these notes for cita tions in his own practise has convinced him that others of the profession may be able to find assistance from the same source. The book is an attempt to give a rational outline of equity (exclusive of trusts and kindred subjects) and to show the scope of the equitable remedies. It does not attempt to deal with strictly statutory subjects or with equity pleading or practice. While the citations are largely drawn from Massa chusetts cases (and Ames's Cases on Equity), it is believed the subject is treated in such a way as to make the book of general application, useful to the student or practitioner in any part of the United States. No attempt has been made to cite all the equity cases decided in Massachusetts, although cer tain parts of the subject, not covered by existing text-books, have been treated with thoroughness. Special attention has been given to late cases. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Outlines of Equity (Classic Reprint)

Book Description

Excerpt from Outlines of Equity A new Edition of these Lectures having been called for, my first care was to ascertain whether, notwithstanding the legal decisions and statutory enactments of the last seven years, they could still be considered useful to those for whose information they were originally published. The result of a careful reperusal of them was to satisfy me that, except in respect of the alterations introduced by the Married Women's Property Act, 1870, and those infused into the practice of the Court of Chancery by the 25th & 26th Vict., cap. 42 (Rolt's Act), the text might be treated as little affected by the lapse of time; and the Lectures have, therefore, been reprinted with notes explaining the effect of subsequent legislation and referring to the recent decisions applicable to the questions discussed. Outlines of Equity

Book Description

Excerpt from Outlines of Equity: A Concise View of the Principles of Modern Equity Though this little book may not merit the description Parvus est libellas at medulla scatet, it contains a great deal of matter in a small compass, and is an attempt -to put the pith of the subject into a few pages. As a pocket compendium, it is hoped that it may prove of use to the Profession in furnishing aids to the Student and reminders to the busy Practitioner. A great amount of time and labour, out of all proportion to the size of the book, has been expended in reducing it to its present dimensions, With the object of placing before the reader an accurate and fairly com prehensive view of the subject according to the latest decisions. How far the Author has succeeded must be left for others to judge. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
