A intenção da obra é homenagear o pesquisador Bernard Charlot pelos seus 70 anos de vida, muitos deles dedicados à Teoria da Relação com o Saber. O primeiro capítulo deste livro, escrito com as delicadas letras de Maria Amélia Santoro Franco, aborda a importância da presença do Charlot para o Brasil e encena com profundidade a homenagem de todos que compõem este livro.
