This USAF publication, Air Force Manual AFM 36-2905 Personnel: Air Force Physical Fitness Program December 2020, implements physical fitness requirements of Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1308.3, DoD Physical Fitness and Body Fat Procedures and Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 36-29, Military Standards. This publication provides directive guidance for the physical fitness program. This instruction has been developed in collaboration with the Chief of Air Force Reserve, (AF/RE), the Director of the Air National Guard, (NGB/CF), and the Deputy Chief of Staff for Manpower, Personnel and Services (AF/A1). This publication applies to the Regular Air Force, the Air Force Reserve and the Air National Guard. This policy applies to U.S. Space Force members until such time as separate service guidance is published.

It complements the physical fitness requirements of DoD Directive 1308.1, DoD Physical Fitness and Body Fat Program, DoD Instruction 1308.3, DoD Physical Fitness and Body Fat Procedures, AFI 40-101, Health Promotion, and Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 10-2, Readiness. This instruction applies to all Regular Air Force (RegAF), Air National Guard (ANG), and Air Force Reserve (AFR) members, except where noted otherwise. This instruction relates to AFI 10-203, Duty Limiting Conditions, AFI 34-266, Air Force Fitness and Sports Programs and AFI 40-104, Health Promotion Nutrition. This AFI may be supplemented at any level, but all supplements must be routed to AF/A1P for coordination prior to certification and approval.

The United States Government, cognizant of its responsibilities to future generations, has been sponsoring research for nine years into the causes, effects, and potential impacts of increased concentrations of carbon dioxide (C0 ) in the atmosphere. Agencies such as the National Science Foun 2 dation, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) cooperatively spent about $100 million from FY 1978 through FY 1984 directly on the study of CO • The DOE, as the 2 lead government agency for coordinating the government' s research ef forts, has been responsible for about 60% of these research efforts. William James succinctly defined our purpose when he stated science must be based upon " ... irreducible and stubborn facts." Scientific knowledge can and will reduce the present significant uncertainty sur rounding our understanding of the causes, effects, and potential impacts of increasing atmospheric CO2• We have come far during the past seven years in resolving some underlyinig doubts and in narrowing the ranges of disagreement. Basic concepts have become less murky. Yet, much more must be accomplished; more irreducible and stubborn facts are needed to reduce the uncertainties so that we can improve our knowledge base. Uncertainty can never be reduced to zero. However, with a much improved knowledge base, we will be able to learn, under stand, and be in a position to make decisions.

One of the key aspects of this volume is to cut across the traditional taxonomy of disciplines in the study of alloys. Hence there has been a deliberate attempt to integrate the different approaches taken towards alloys as a class of materials in different fields, ranging from geology to metallurgical engineering. The emphasis of this book is to highlight commonalities between different fields with respect to how alloys are studied. The topics in this book fall into several themes, which suggest a number of different classification schemes. We have chosen a scheme that classifies the papers in the volume into the categories Microstructural Considerations, Ordering, Kinetics and Diffusion, Magnetic Considerations and Elastic Considerations. The book has juxtaposed apparently disparate approaches to similar physical processes, in the hope of revealing a more dynamic character of the processes under consideration. This monograph will invigorate new kinds of discussion and reveal challenges and new avenues to the description and prediction of properties of materials in the solid state and the conditions that produce them.
