Assessment of Spawning Herring and Capelin Stocks at Selected Coastal Areas in the Eastern Bering Sea

Book Description

Presents the results of research on herring in the eastern Bering Sea from March 1978 through September 1979. Although capelin were originally included, the research on those fish stocks along with some data gathering objectives were dropped due to funding constraints. Research objectives include describing and monitoring separate spawning stocks of herring, evaluating their distribution, abundance, and spawning success, and evaluating abundance survey methods. Aerial surveys covered coastal waters from Port Moller to Bering Strait. Shore based studies were carried out at Metervik Bay, Tongue Point, Security Cove, Goodnews Bay, Nelson Island, Cape Romanzof, Cape Denbigh and Grantley Harbor.
