Book Description

(1) Dated August 8, 1845 to Mr. King; Regarding his son, William. (2) Dated February 17, 1847 to unidentified; Macready is pleased with the good reports of his son Edward that he has received. (3) Dated June 4, 1847 to Mr. Hogg; Macready states that he is "truly obliged to you for your kind care and attention to my son ... but it will perhaps be best for him to begin his half-year at a public school."

Several mention Macready in William Tell. Many letters mention a Mrs. Reid, possibly referring to Elizabeth Jesser Reid. (26) The letter to Carlyle is about Covent Garden Theatre.
