This is Nick Armbrister's third collection of poems and his fourth book. It has poems that didn't make his first two collections due to a variety of reasons. He didn't think some of his early poems were up to standard; these he edited and rewrote; some poetry was too personal in nature, like relationship ones. Also, poetry that repeated the same subject matter never made the first two books. In later years, after re-reading his poetry, Nick decided to bring all of his remaining unpublished work together in this new volume - poems written during the years 1996-2008. The work changes in depth, quality and subject matter and most of the poems have never been published before. Nick continues his passionate, multi-emotional and often left-of-centre work in these poems. Nick has always been drawn to the weird and wonderful. While his poems are often simple and brittle, they make a graphic and powerful impact that cuts like broken glass.

Hanford Lennox Gordon's 'The Feast of the Virgins and Other Poems' is a collection of strikingly vivid and emotional poems that delve into themes of love, loss, and the human experience. Gordon's poetic style is rich in symbolism and imagery, drawing readers into a world of deep introspection and contemplation. The poems in this collection are a mix of traditional forms and free verse, showcasing Gordon's versatility and skill as a poet. Set against the backdrop of the early 20th century, these poems offer a glimpse into the psyche of a bygone era while still resonating with modern readers. Gordon's work stands out for its lyrical beauty and profound insights into the complexities of life and emotion. Hanford Lennox Gordon, a prominent Jamaican poet and playwright, was known for his contributions to Caribbean literature and his exploration of cultural identity. His experiences growing up in Jamaica and later traveling and studying in the United States influenced his writing style and thematic concerns. Gordon's deep connection to his homeland and his keen observations of human nature shine through in 'The Feast of the Virgins and Other Poems'. His work continues to be celebrated for its timeless relevance and universal appeal. I highly recommend 'The Feast of the Virgins and Other Poems' to readers who appreciate thought-provoking poetry that explores the depths of human experience. Gordon's collection offers a unique blend of beauty and introspection that will captivate poetry lovers and literary enthusiasts alike.

This book details the origins of the names of 240 musical acts, focusing on the most popular groups (and a few individual performers) from the 1960s through today. Even casual music fans will recognize almost all of the acts discussed. A few one-hit wonders are included simply because their name is so unusual (Mungo Jerry, for example) that they warrant a place in the study. Each entry focuses on the meaning and/or origin of the act's name, what it had been called previously, and any other names that were considered and rejected during the naming process. Also included are facts and figures about the act's history and place in the rock music pantheon, the year the act was formed, the names of original members and later members of note and the act's best known hit. The book lists bands alphabetically to give the casual reader the opportunity to open it to any page and read at leisure, the historian the ability to easily pinpoint the subject of his or her research, or the die-hard rock fan the chance to learn from A to Z the name origins of the biggest acts in rock and pop music history.
