It would be almost impossible for me to say anything new about the disease in this paper, and I am therefore not attempting to do so. One object that I have had in view, how ever, has been to try and follow up those cases of rectal carcinoma, which came under my personal notice, while I occupied a three years' appointment at the General Hospital (birmingham). The endeavour to find out what eventually became of them, has, I fear, not been attended with the success that I could have wished for. Such as it is, I will speak of it later.
