Excerpt from Briot and Bouquets Elements of Analytical Geometry of Two Dimensions This translation has been made with the hope that the high scientific character of Briot et Bouquet's Leçons de Géométrie Analytique may contribute something toward the improvement of the standard of instruction in the elements of analytical geometry. The translator leaves for the second edition the addition of notes which will bring some of the topics treated in the text down to the present scientific development of the subject.
