He had not, however, completed the index when he had to cease from his labours owing to failing health and eye sight, the latter no doubt aggravated by his zealous efforts to decipher many faded documents and by the arduous task of transcribing the taxation rolls. With reference to these, were he now living, he would doubtless take this Opportunity to thank the many friends who assisted him in endeavouring to identify the names of churches, &c.
