The arthropods contain more species than any other animal group, but the evolutionary pathways which led to their current diversity are still an issue of controversy. Arthropod Relationships provides an overview of our current understanding, responding to the new data arising from sequencing DNA, the discovery of new Cambrian fossils as direct evidence of early arthropod history, and developmental genetics. These new areas of research have stimulated a reconsideration of classical morphology and embryology. Arthropod Relationships is the first synthesis of the current debate to emerge: not since the volume edited by Gupta was published in 1979 has the arthropod phylogeny debate been, considered in this depth and breadth. This is the first issue of ZooKeys devoted to taxonomy of the Crustacea, specifically crustaceans from the Southern Hemisphere, with contributions describing new taxa from Australia, New Caledonia, the Tasman Sea, Fiji, Madagascar and Antarctica. The issue comprises six papers on the Peracarida, and one each on Decapoda and Spinicaudata, describing four new genera, 12 new species, and new diagnoses to a further four genera. The first occurrence of the Eurasian clam shrimp Eoleptestheria ticinensis in Australia, is reported. There are three isopod contributions, two describing new species and new genera of deep-water Serolidae from Australia and the tropical southwestern Pacific, the third describing a new genus and new species of Anthuroidea from Australian coral reefs. One paper revises the amphipod genus Epimeria describing two species, one new, from Antarctic waters of the Ross and Weddell Seas. Two contributions on the Tanaidacea, describe new species from tropical Australia. The remaining paper describes a new species of freshwater crab (Family Potamonautidae) from Madagascar.

This part B of the fourth volume of The Crustacea contains chapters on: ● Crustaceans in the Biosphere ● Crustaceans and Mankind ● Crustaceans in Art ● Orders Lophogastrida, Stygiomysida, and Mysida [collectively known as Mysidacea] As evident from the number 4B tagged to this volume, vol. 4 as originally planned had to be split into two fascicles, 4A and 4B, simply because of the numbers of pages covered by the various contributions meant for volume 4. The chapters in this book grew out of those in the French edition volumes 7(II) and 7(III)(A). Overall, this constitutes the seventh tome published in this English series, viz., preceded by volumes 1 (2004), 2 (2006), 9A (2010), 9B (2012), 3 (2012), and 4A (2013). Readers/users should note that from vol. 4A onward we have had to abandon publishing the chapters in the serial sequence as originally envisaged by the late Prof. J. Forest, because the various contributions, i.e., both the updates and the entirely new chapters, have become available in a more or less random order.
