Health and Safety in the Rubber Industry

Book Description

This report takes a broad overview of the rubber industry and highlights the key concerns over safety that are currently being raised. The statistics on the incidence of accidents are reviewed. The rubber industry has been highlighted as having a higher rate of accidents than other similar industries. Measures that can be taken to avoid injury from machinery are discussed, including advice from the International Labour Organization on mill safety. The review is accompanied by around 400 abstracts from the Rapra Polymer Library database, to facilitate further reading on this subject.

Rubber Analysis

Developments in Rubber Technology—4

Book Description

This volume, the fourth in a series which began in 1979, covers a greater variety of subjects than any previous single volume. The basis of selection has been topical interest; hence the tailor-making of polymers to develop specific properties, methods of improving com pound processability and the use of rubbers in the oil industry are featured alongside a discussion of safety aspects. We have again sought the cooperation of the foremost authorities on the chosen subjects and have been delighted at the response which has yielded a list of authors of international repute. A. w. K. Current Approaches to Occupational Health

Book Description

Current Approaches to Occupational Health 2 is a compilation of articles that review the progress in the fields of occupational health, occupational medicine, and occupational hygiene. The book presents industry reviews of the rubber, coal mining, agriculture, and diving industries; occupational health problems; and toxicology, epidemiology, hazard management, work, education in occupational medicine, and health education at work. Occupational health professionals, physicians, and students will find the book invaluable.

Plasticisers

Book Description

The role of external plasticisers is to increase the softness, flexibility and distensibility of polymer systems, particularly PVC. Additional effects such as the reduction of melt viscosity may be of prime importance in some cases. This report considers the whole subject of external plasticisers for polymers. An additional indexed section containing several hundred abstracts from the Rapra Polymer Library database provides useful references for further reading.
