Customs and Traditions of Palestine

Book Description

Excerpt from Customs and Traditions of Palestine: Illustrating the Manners of the Ancient Hebrews The information contained in the following pages, relative to the manners and customs of the present inhabitants of Palestine, has been collected by the Author during a residence of eight years in that country. In preparing those parts of the work which treat of the former inhabitants of the land, he has been greatly aided by M. Munk's 'Palestine' ('Description Geographique Historique et Archeologique'), and is also occasionally indebted to 'Le Pelerinage à Jérusalem par le Père Laorty-Hadji.' Some of the Arab legends in Chapter III. have already appeared in a little book entitled 'Trois Ans en Judee;' as, however, they were supplied to M. Gerardy Saintine by the Author, he conceives that he has a right to use them. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
