Book Description

James Rising (1617-1688) was born at Ketelsthorp, Norfolk Co., (Lancashire), England. He died at Suffield, Connecticut. He married (1) Elizabeth Hinsdale (1638-1669) of Medfield, Mass. in 1657. She was the daughter of Robert Hinsdale and Ann Woodward of Dedham, Essex Co., England and South Deerfield, Mass. James and Elizabeth first settled at Salem, MA and after the birth of their four children they moved to Windsor, Connecticut where he operated a Ferry. She died and he married (2) Martha Bartlett (1649-1674), widow of John Bartlett. He was the father of James, John, Hannah, Moses and Elizabeth. Several generations of descendants are given.
