The sparseness of population is indicated by the frequent mention. Of wild animals killed-panthers, bears, deer, etc. The relations between the whites and the Indians appear in an unfavorable light. In these pages. The aborigines are usually mentioned as in a condition of servitude, or in some liscreditable transaction. It should be borne in mind, how ever, that the dusky natives had no newspaper to represent their point of view.
