Richard Hough of Macclesfield, Cheshire, England immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1683. He married Margery Clowes, daughter of John Clowes, in 1684. They had five children. He died in 1705.

Early Friends Families of Upper Bucks is a collection of genealogical and historical information pertaining to the first settlers of the upper part of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Separate chapters are assigned to each family, and approximately 12,000 persons are named and identified. The genealogies commence with the first of the Bucks County line (usually during the period of the eighteenth century, but also earlier) and proceed, on average, through about eight generations.

Several families named Hough/Huff lived in America about 1620. William, Richard, John and Francis Hough all came from Cheshire Co., Eng. Others were Samuel, Thomas, Edward and Michael. Richard and Margery Clowes married in 1683/4 at Philadelphia. She was the daughter of John Clowes. They had five children. Descendants remained in the East for several generations.
