What is Inclusive Research?

Book Description

This book is available as open access through the Bloomsbury Open Access programme and is available on www.bloomsburycollections.com. This book describes and defines inclusive research, outlining how to recognize it, understand it, do it, and know when it is done well. In doing so it will address the areas of overlap and distinctiveness in relation to participatory, emancipatory, user-led and partnership research as well as exploring the various practices encompassed within each of these inclusive approaches. The book will focus on how and why more inclusive approaches to research have evolved. It will position inclusive research within the key debates and shifts in policy, define key ideas and terms, disuss the contested nature of inclusive research and illustrate a range of approaches using examplars. The aim is to discuss the range of challenges involved and to examine the degree to which these challenges have so far been met.

News from Nowhere and Other Writings

Book Description

Poet, pattern-designer, environmentalist and maker of fine books, William Morris (1834-96) was also a committed socialist and visionary writer, obsessively concerned with the struggle to achieve a perfect society on earth. News From Nowhere, one of the most significant English works on the theme of utopia, is the tale of William Guest, a Victorian who wakes one morning to find himself in the year 2102 and discovers a society that has changed beyond recognition into a pastoral paradise, in which all people live in blissful equality and contentment. A socialist masterpiece, News From Nowhere is a vision of a future free from capitalism, isolation and industrialisation. This volume also contains a wide selection of Morris's writings, lectures, journalism and letters, which expand upon the key themes of News From Nowhere.

Inclusive Education

Book Description

"Inclusive education had its origins in the move of disabled children from segregated special settings to mainstream classrooms, on the premise that every child has the right to access the curriculum and other experiences of publicly funded schools. This book reports on studies by leading researchers in the USA, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Norway and the Netherlands that set out to examine the meanings of inclusion in their various cultures and school systems. The emphasis in each of the studies is on attending to the voices of those most directly involved - the students, parents and teachers. They tell us about the complexity of the issues in this area, suggesting guidelines for teachers and other professionals working with disabled children."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc.
