Effect of Rivet Pitch Upon the Fatigue Strength of Single-row Riveted Joints of 0.025- to 0.025-inch 24S-T Alclad

Book Description

S-N curves at the range ratio of 0.2 were experimentally obtained for each of the following values of rivet pitch as used in a single-row lap joint of 0.025- to 0.025-inch 24S-T alclad with one-eighht AN43O round-head rivets. Families of constant rivet pitch curves, which define the fatigue of constant specimens studied, were developed. Curves showing the variation of the effective stress concentration factor in fatigue with rivet pitch and maximum load per rivet were also established.

Effect of Ratio of Rivet Pitch to Rivet Diameter on the Fatigue Strength of Riveted Joints of 24S-T Aluminum-alloy Sheet

Book Description

An extensive series of tests were conducted on riveted joints to determine the effect of rivet size and rivet pitch on the fatigue life of joints subjected to "prying" (combined tensile and bending) loads. For each sheet thickness tested, there appeared to be a value of the ratio of rivet pitch to rivet diameter that would ensure a near maximum of the ratio of fatigue strength to static ultimate strength for the joint.

The Fatigue Characteristics of Bolted Lap Joints of 24S-T Alclad Sheet Materials

Book Description

Fatigue tests have been conducted to determine the effect of bolt fit upon the lifetime of lap joints of 24S-T Alclad sheet of various thicknesses joined by steel bolts an designed for sheet failure under repeated loading.
