In Book 2, Puss, Jr meets Sir Lancelot, Little Polly Flinders, the Woman who Sweeps Cobwebs from the Sky, Tom Tinker, Peter the Pumpkin-Eater, Tom Thumb, and Buff, the dog. Puss, Jr finds his Good Gray Horse, slides down a rainbow, has an encounter with robbers, rescues Buff the dog, and rides with Sir Lancelot. Puss unexpectedly finds his father in a heart-warming ending to this second book of the series.Original illustrations by Elizabeth Jones Babcock are included in the stories. They have been enlarged for coloring with crayons or colored pencils. Adults using colored pencils can create vintage-looking pictures.The Puss in Boots, Jr books are lovely reminders that simple words can awaken the imaginations of children and adults alike, just as they did one hundred years ago. The original stories have been very slightly edited to change archaic words and references. Reading level is second grade but much younger children will enjoy hearing the stories read to them.
