It is, however, one of the smaller of the twenty-one counties into which Idaho is divided. The main portion of the county lies between latitude 460 and 460 35' N and between longitude 1160 and 117 O W. The county seat is Lewis ton, which has a population of and is situated on its western border, at the junction of Clearwater River with Snake River. Lewis ton is connected with Clarkston, Washington, on the west side of Snake River, by a fine steel cantilever bridge. These two towns, frequently designated lewiston-clarkston, have a ]oint population of There are also many Villages and hamlets scattered throughout the county and over the adjacent country, more especially to the east and north, and isolated farmhouses and settlers' cabins are numerous.
