The Christmas Poems formed a part of the annual festivities at the H ome stead and usually took the form of a duet between Mr. Billings and Mr. Gardner in the capacities (f Oracle and Questioner. Unfirrtunately Mr. Billings did not always preserve his mss. And the Christ mas Poems are in consequence often fragmentary. Thanks are due to Messrs. H. D. Chandler and J.
