Book Description
This is first and foremost a book of true stories of the paranormal, true to those who experienced and shared them. These pages consist of over 180 pages of ghost stories cobbled together from 12 hours of interviews with appearances by ghosts, shadow people, UFOs, The Flannel Man, Lechuza, and the unexplained to name drop a few. The world of the paranormal is often filled with wild speculation and unproven tools, with no consensus of what is being measured or why. This book is intended to find the tip of the science iceberg, to create a starting point for others to experiment with the basics of research using observation and analysis, the long-accepted tools of scientific research. Haunted Family History - A Mixed Methods Approach to Paranormal Research uses qualitative analysis, a common method from psychology, to interview participants and identify commonalities and correlations in experiences. The author then uses NVivo(R) software to code and quantify the interviews into data that can then be compared, contrasted, and analyzed. The oddly numerous sightings and experiences that occur in both the author's paternal and maternal families then allow him to compare and contrast experiences within each family and between families. While there are events where the best explanation is likely a natural one, odd patterns begin to emerge, and repetitive events occur years apart and to different family members that beg for a reasonable explanation. You the reader are challenged to read the following manuscript and conduct your own analysis. Something is happening.
