This report evaluated the safety and public opinion of HOV lanes assessed by a survey and accident data. Survey results indicate a strong support for HOV lanes. A need for outreach programs to promote the benefits of lanes is discussed. Also, stricter enforcement, construction of direct on-ramps and off-ramps and installation of prominent signs to increase public awareness is recommended.
