Chapter 10--Reference Tables for Thermocouples

Book Description

The practical use of thermocouples in industrial and laboratory applications requires that the thermocouple conform to an established temperature--electromotive-force relationship within acceptable limits of error. Since the thermocouple in a thermoelectric thermometer system is usually expendable, conformance to established temperature-emf relationships is necessary in order to permit interchangeability.

Reference Tables for Thermocouples

Book Description

The practical use of thermocouples in industrial and laboratory applications requires that the thermocouple conform to an established temperature --electromotive-force relationship within acceptable limits of error. Since the thermocouple in a thermoelectric thermometer system is usually expendable, conformance to established temperature-emf relationships is necessary in order to permit interchangeability. Section 10.2 consists of reference tables that give temperature-emf relationships for the thermocouple types most commonly used in industry. These are identified as thermocouple Types B, E, J, K, R, S, and T, as defined in ANSI Standard C96.1. Data in these tables are based upon absolute electrical units, and the International Practical Temperature Scale of 1948.13 All temperature-emf data contained in Section 10.2 have been extracted from National Bureau of Standards Circular 561, issued 27 April 1955 and Journal of Research Volume 70C, No. 2, April-June 1966. These tables have been published also as ASTM Standard E 230.
