Isotopic Age Studies and Tectonic Interpretation of Superior Province in Manitoba

Book Description

This report is a compilation and discussion of approximately 120 published and unpublished isotopic age determinations from 101 localities in the Superior Structural Province of Manitoba. The object is to trace the isotopic history of Archean rocks and to determine if it is possible to estbalish unique times of tectonic activity in various subprovinces.

Geology of the Precambrian Superior and Grenville Provinces and Precambian Fossils in North America

Book Description

This volume contains a description of the geology and mineral deposits of the Superior Province of the Canadian Shield, an overview of Grenville Province geology, and a synopsis of Precambrian fossil occurrences in North America. Six large plates include a geological map of Canada, geological map of the Grenville Province, lithotectonic map of the Superior Province, Archean mineral deposit map of the Superior Province, and more.

Terrestrial Heat Flow and the Lithosphere Structure

Book Description

Terrestrial Heat Flow and the Lithosphere Structure summarizes current problems of analyzing related data. The individual chapters are written by leading scientists in geothermics, and are arranged in three sections: - General Lithospheric Geothermics - Regional Lithospheric Geothermics - Worldwide Heat Flow Density Studies. Emphasis is laid on the interrelations between lithospheric structure and local heat flow fields.

Proposals for Time Classification and Correlation of Precambrian Rocks and Events in Canada and Adjacent Areas of the Canadian Shield

Book Description

The third part of the debate about time classification and correlation of Precambrian rocks and events in Canada continues with discussion of the fundamental philosophies of geological time scales, assessment of previous proposals and the description of a chart with three scales. This chart, intended for use in the Geological Atlas of Canada, includes a chronometric scale for international correlation and reference to isotopic ages, the chronometric/chronolithic hybrid scale proposed for the Decade of North American Geology publications, and a modified (primarily chronolithic) version of Stockwell's chrono-orogenic scale which appeared in the first part of this debate.
