John Jones, compiled by Edwin Allston Hill; together with notes and other material relating to the genealogy of the Benjamin, Brown, Eaton, and Maunsell families; a few letters and other papers of Isaac Jones, Sr. (d. 1812) and his son, Rev. Isaac Jones (1775-1850), including biographies of prominent family members; and other miscellaneous family papers.

The Jones Collection is primarily composed of correspondence between Rufus Horton Jones, Jr., and his mother, Mabel Lord Hersom Jones, and between Rufus Horton Jones, Jr., and his wife, Ruth Fosdick Jones. Other items in the collection include photographs, resumes, news articles, and an assortment of family papers belonging to members of Rufus's family, including his grandmother, Dr. Jane Lord Hersom, and his father, Rev. Rufus Horton Jones. Subjects represented include students at Harvard University, husbands in New York state and wives in Maine, personal narratives of Americans in World War II, advertising executives in New York and Maine. Places represented include Portland, and Boothbay Harbor, Me.
